"DILAWAN KA O KOMUNISTA, KAYA KA TAKOT SA TERROR BILL"!
The government is aware of poor quality education in our country. Since the time being, we failed to liberalize education in our society. Most of us are taught that studying is part of a compulsory process to get a better life, but not as a tool for good citizenship. If our education system is equipped with a mechanism that eradicates rebellious and radical thinking, then our fight against terrorism will not result in sacrificing our constitutional rights. According to the United Nations Human Development Report, the Philippines rank at 108th place in the global education index. And in the study conducted by Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), our country reached the bottom for reading comprehension and mathematics. Studies shows that our student is having hard time to learn basic education. In wider perspective, it also indicate that our education system is being left behind.
Apart from poor education, the best element to proliferate terrorism in poverty line. In the recent event, it was known to us that Mindanao is the most prone to be a cradle of terrorism, because of episodic failure of the government to annihilate poverty on the island. The poverty incidence in Mindanao is 36.2%, the highest in the country. It was followed by Visayas by 28% and Luzon by 13%, based on the Asian Development Bank study.
The poor education system and high poverty incidence in our country is the very reason why we are less protected from terrorism. The Anti- Terror Bill can arrest people as many as the government can. But as long as the ideology continues, a new generation of terrorists would just replace the current cycle. The seriousness of the government to make the Philippines a safer place rest on how the current administration values education. As well as its strong effort to uplift people from the poverty line. As the old saying goes, an Empty stomach knows no law. Today we also understand that a poor education system could be a factor to radical ideology. Sen. Lacson was right to say that soon we may be on top place of global terrorism index, if the method of our government will remain based on repression and not empirical based policies.
The true condition of our country is not new to the government. Therefore, if they wanted to guard the people against violent idealism they knew where to start. But since there are no real actions from the government to stop terrorism, being a Free Thinker about the real motive of the Anti Terror Bill is not a crime. We are aware that the proposed law can be subject to grave abuses and may instrumentalize to silence the dissenters. So ask ourselves if we are ready to be governed by fear? and let a dictator think for us.
Am I a terrorist ? or just a Free Thinker. Aristotle once said that don't accept everything you hear as truth be critical and evaluate what you believe in. Same as true about the Anti-Terror Bill.
Just a while ago, Sen. Panfilo Lacson feared that if the bill will be vetoed by the president will wake up soon on the top spot of global terrorism index.

Based on the recent events in our country, it is no surprise that we are vulnerable to be a potential breeding ground of radical idealism. Probably, the way to stop it from happening is to pass the Anti- Terror bill, according to its authors. But why other countries that have strong terrorism laws are still susceptible to a terror attack? The most conclusive answer, is we are fighting terrorism ineffectual. Given the danger of civil liberties impairment and constitutional violations, the terror bill is lacking of a long term solution to end terrorism in our country. If the motive of the lawmakers is to create a society that is far from terrorist, best way to do, is to suppress extrimist ideology. With a prejudiced law, we can apprehend terrorist but with education, we can supress terrorism.
